RB’s
Start
Eli Mitchell 49ers @ Bears
As I said in my week 7 takeaways Mitchell looked awesome on SNF. Jimmy G remains QB1 in San Fran and that means there’s no worries about the quarterback stealing carries. On the other side of the ball, reports indicate the Bears may well be without Khalil Mack and their offense has looked terrible of late. Expect the Niners to dominate time of possession, which should result in plenty of carries for the University of Louisiana product.
Sit
Mike Davis Panthers @ Falcons
Cordarrelle Patterson has taken over the job in Atlanta and I see Davis’ role continuing to shrink. He only had 4 carries against Miami and I don’t expect him to have many more than that against the Panthers this week. Patterson is also the better pass catcher of the two with his experience at receiver. Davis is worth keeping as a bench stash incase of injury but he no longer belongs in your lineups.
WR’s
Start
Laviska Shenault Jr. Jaguars @ Seahawks
Shenault is coming off a 10 target game and this is a great opportunity against a reeling Seattle team. I’m backing the Jags to get their second win in a row as the vulnerable Seahawks defense has given up over 20 points in 5 out of 7 games. Look for Trevor Lawrence to sling that ball on Sunday (he’s had over 30 attempts in 5/6 games this season) and Shenault to cash in on a plus matchup.
Sit
Corey Davis Bengals @ Jets
Mike White is going to be filling in for Zach Wilson, but there is an apparent lack of confidence in the Western Kentucky product with the Jets trading for veteran Joe Flacco. Combine that with a Bengals defense that has been performing above expectations and you have a recipe for disaster for the Jets number 1 outside receiver. Davis will be a sit until we get some answers at the QB position.
TE’s
Start
Robert Tonyan Packers @ Cardinals
The Packers are likely going to be without star receiver Davante Adams and Allen Lazard has been ruled out due to his vaccination status. Rodgers has got to go somewhere with the ball and given the situation you have to feel like the Packers are going to be chasing this game. The result, look for Tonyan to eat some targets for dinner on Thursday night, he’s a great start at a weak position this week.
Sit
David Njoku Steelers @ Browns
Honestly it doesn’t matter who starts at QB for the Browns, neither Mayfield or Keenum can support fantasy relevant pass catchers in their run heavy offence. The only guy that might be above this is Jarvis Landry and his return further reduces any ability Njoku has to put up points. Njoku has no place being in a lineup let alone a roster.
Kickers
Start
Greg Joseph Cowboys @ Vikings
This should be a high scoring affair inside an enclosed stadium, and he plays for the home team, it’s what you want to look for when picking up a kicker. Joseph only has one game this season with less than 7 points so you should feel confident starting the Vikings kicker this week.
Sit
Harrison Butker Giants @ Chiefs
The Chiefs are going to score a lot of points in this one, and I don’t see them settling for field goals. This means there isn’t going to be anything but PAT’s for Butker to attempt so he should have a low ceiling in this one. Look for other options if you have the fifth year player rostered.
Defense
Start
San Francisco 49ers @ Bears
Fields has been sacked a lot since he was named the Bears starter, he’s also turned the ball over 7 times. The Niner’s D-line is going to feast and look for Josh Norman to continue to attack the ball carrier to force fumbles. I’m expecting this defense to produce its highest scoring fantasy game of the season here.
Sit
New England Patriots @ Chargers
The Patriots defense has only been fantasy relevant against the Jets this year and going on the road across the country to LA isn’t going to change that. The Chargers are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Ravens and look for them to correct that in this one. You’re gonna want to sit the Pats this week.
